Dodmoor House Autumn Wedding

Feb 7, 2020 | IN LOVE

This was one special Autumn Wedding at Dodmoor House. I apologise in advance if I gush a little bit with this blog. Stevie is our niece so this wedding was pretty much one of those beautiful family affairs which stay in the memory forever!

When Stevie and Steve began planning their wedding they told me they were looking for an intimate barn venue. They started out on the search themselves but hadn’t quite found what they were looking for so Stevie asked me for some recommendations. One of the wedding venues we have been wedding photographers at quite a lot in the last 10 years has been Dodmoor House in Weedon near Daventry and it seemed to tick all of Stevie’s (and Steve’s by default!) boxes so she arranged a visit and I tagged along too. She loved it… so that was it, the venue was booked. Luckily when Steve got chance to see it he loved it too so that was a relief!!

The wedding was to be at one of our favourite times of year, Autumn. Dodmoor has lots of beautiful gardens so the colours at Autumn time come into their own.

Stevie started getting ready at her Nan and Grandad’s house (a home I know well!!). During this time she had Becca from B’s Beauty doing make up and Demi from Mack doing hair. Both are on our list of recommended suppliers. Once they were all pampered it was off to Dodmoor House to get the dresses on. Stevie had chosen her perfect wedding dress from Sammie Lou Bridal Couture and the alterations were all done by Stitched Up. She looked stunning.

Groom Preparations

Later Steve met up with Kev at Dodmoor to get some photos of him getting into his Marc Darcy suit from Albie and Lonnie’s and then a few formal photos before he greeted the guests arriving. Kev also helped our friend Anne-Marie carry the flowers across to Stevie.

It was time to get married! Although the weather wasn’t perfect it held off at the right times so Stevie was able to so the traditional Dodmoor Aisle Walk across the courtyard to the barn. Steve was nervous, bless him! When he saw Stevie emotion was added to those nerves, it was a right old teary moment for everyone. The registrars from Northamptonshire Council led the ceremony and calmed the pair of them as they said their vows and became husband and wife.

Confetti was thrown as they came back down the aisle and again the weather held so we managed to get all the outdoor family photos as the drinks were served. We were also able to get some fab couple photos in the gardens. As you can probably tell from the photos this pair are laughing together almost all of the time. It was a special time that we spent with them before heading back in for the wedding breakfast.

The barn looked great with lots of pumpkins all carved by family. There were some lovely speeches and a tasty meal was served by Delicious Catering. It was so nice to be on the “guest” side of a wedding at Dodmoor.

Rain Photography

After the meal we set up some lit shots with the newly weds and then we had the rain! Yay! We got a rain shot for them, albeit it was kind of blowing a gale as well so we lost a brolly in the making of said shot!!!

The cutting of the lovely cake by The Rugby Cake Fairy was followed by the first dance with music from 1 Entertainments.

We had a FAB day. Lastly I cannot thank the team at Dodmoor enough for making my niece’s dreams come true. They could not have done anymore for her and Steve.

Stevie and Steve chose a stunning wedding album to preserve their memories. Click here to have a look at our Heirloom Wedding Albums.
